The focus lies on using the semiconductor material silicon carbide (SiC) for quantum computing and integrating SiC qubits into electronic devices. In this context, the quantum-electronic properties of point defects &#8211; so-called color centers &#8211; in the crystal lattice are selectively manipulated and read out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This novel research area encounters both technological limitations that must be overcome and fundamental physical questions related to optics, photonics, and electronics under extreme conditions. A fully quantum\u2013photonically integrated circuit therefore requires precise design of the optical components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Objectives of the Thesis<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the scope of a master\u2019s thesis, various concepts for integrated optical waveguides intended for use with color centers in 4H-SiC are to be investigated and compared using simulations in the software Ansys Lumerical. Based on these results, additional passive photonic devices will be simulated. The overall goal of the thesis is to design, by means of simulation, a suitable architecture for a 4H-SiC quantum photonic integrated circuit (QPIC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a more detailed overview and class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Your Qualifications<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completed bachelor\u2019s degree in physics, electrical engineering, nanotechnology, materials science, or a comparable field<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of semiconductor physics and electromagnetic fields<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Independent working style, initiative, and ability to work in a team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with optical\/photonic simulations and\/or Ansys Lumerical is not required but advantageous, as this is a purely simulation-based project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2
